Surrey Police is appealing for information following a burglary at Tandridge Golf Club, Godstone Road, Oxted at between 11.45pm on Saturday, 22 December and 2am on Sunday, 23 December.

It is believed the intruders forced open a locked wooden trophy cabinet and stole a quantity of silverware before making off.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Portia Andrews from Reigate CID, said: “This incident is one of several involving golf clubs in Surrey and I would urge all clubs to remain vigilant and report any sightings of individuals or anything unusual to police immediately.

“I would like to ask metal dealers and members of the public to look out for the items and if you suspect someone of trying to sell on possible stolen goods to contact officers with information.

“The stolen items, some of which have been with the club for decades, are of great sentimental value to the club and its members and we will do all we can to reunite them with their property.”

Local officers from the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team have been carrying out enquiries in the area in a bid to trace those responsible.

Anyone who has information on this offence is urged to call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference TD/12/5876 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
