Lawrence Johnston spent nearly 40 years creating his garden at Hidcote in North Gloucestershire.
He started it soon after his mother, Gertrude Winthrop, bought the estate in 1907 and it quickly grew to be his life's work - becoming one of the most talked about gardens of the 20th century.
In 1948, with his health failing, Johnston handed the garden over to the National Trust retiring to his garden at Serre de la Madone in Menton, France.
Join Johnston in his Drawing Room as he returns to Hidcote in 1950 for his final visit and takes you on a tour of his spectacular garden.
