Scraponomics Episode 34: ScrapFest 2014 Follow-up!

If you happened to stop by Old Town, Lansing this past weekend, you would have come across 17 whimsical metal sculptures in Lot 56, which is the parking lot where Grand River Ave. meets Turner St.

Every year, for the past six years, teams of artists, welders, and fabricators have come together to participate in a competition called ScrapFest, of which Friedland is the host and signature sponsor. The teams have one hour to pick up to 500 pounds of metal out of Friedland’s processing plant, and then get two weeks to make a sculpture!
