Maiden from Texas

For Evangeline: 35th Wedding Anniversary (April 24, 1976)

There is a maiden from Texas with beauty ever so bold She lives within the chambers amid the caverns of my soul She leads me by the hand with a slight and gentle sigh Like a diamond with a brilliance which flares across the sky

I remember when we first did meet so many years ago It was I who was the bold one who put on quite a show Indeed she was special her face sparkled with a glow I couldn’t help but notice as the sparks began to flow

The fun we had in growing together made our hearts caress The closeness shared in togetherness was more than a jest Watching you walk down the aisle brought it to a crest Leaving church as man and wife with a love we’ll put to test

Now the years have shown my dear my love for you is real We took the good along with the bad and aced it with zeal Emerging as one from the storms of life we can proudly boast We did our best we found our quest now it’s time to coast
