Episode 178,   Oct 09, 2011, 06:00 PM

After Hillsborough, the fire at Bradford City's stadium, Valley Parade, in 1985 was the second worst sporting tragedy in England, leaving 56 dead and over 250 injured.

It was supposed to be a day of celebration, with theĀ  Division Three championship trophy - Bradford's first trophy in 56 years - presented before the start of their match against Lincoln City.

The day turned to tragedy when the main stand burned down after what was thought to be a cigarette set the wooden structure alight.

Tony Delahunty from what was then Bradford's Pennine Radio was in place reporting for his station and the IRN network. His anticipated football reporting turned to coverage of the tragedy, as heard here.
