Here's what's happening in the Feb. 15 edition of the Cherokee Scout, your local newspaper since 1889:

• Cherokee County has upset some local business owners by hiring an outside firm to conduct the business property tax listing audit. • Fire and rescue squads across the county have resisted changing in past years, but paid departments are still not an option. • Lilly Cash of Hiwassee Dam, a 6-year wreck survivor, is being moved to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia for tests. • The Hiwassee Dam girls basketball team clinches at least a share of the Little Smoky Mountain Conference title. • Murphy's Jackie Parks scored her 1,000th career point, while Katrina Evans grabbed her 1,000th career rebound for the Lady Bulldogs. • Look for the annual Living Healthy medical directory, free inside this issue.
