Senator Franken asks Secretary Salazar whether the oil and gas companies could pay for hydraulic fracturing studies

Senator Franken asks about the funds for USGS to study shale gas development and whether that, like the Land and Water Conservation Fund, would be paid for by the oil and gas industry. Secretary Salazar notes the need for scientific studies and the role the USGS studies have played in understanding shale gas. Senator Franken suggests some of those funds could go to a regional water project.
