Steam train passing through Great Portland Street Tube station (Stereo)

On Sunday 13th January 2013 London Underground ran a special steam hauled service from Kensington Olympia to Moorgate via the northern side of the Circle Line, to commemorate the opening of the world's first underground railway, between Paddington and Farringdon in London, on the 10th January 1863. I saw the train pass from the eastbound platform at Great Portland Street, and this recording includes the sound of the train being heralded on staff radios, a train being stopped short of the adjacent westbound platform, the steam train whistling and passing through the station, and the arrival of two modern Metropolitan Line trains. There is a little bit of clipping as the locomotive itself passes, despite the levels being set low. The recording was made on my Zoom H1 recorder, using its in-built microphone.
