Waiting For An Allotment

BBC Tees has discovered that nearly three thousand people in our region are on council waiting lists, waiting for the chance to own their own allotment.

Across Teesside and County Durham there are just over three and a half thousand allotment plots run by our local authorities and demand has continued to grow over the past ten years.

BBC Tees's David Rhodes has been looking at why so many people want to own their own allotment and the role they play in our local communities.
