Sea bed sampling - Qatar

Eoghan Kieran from GeoMara discusses the sea bed sampling project running as part of the marine element of the Qatar National Historic Environment Record under the auspices of the Qatar Museum Authority. Lucy Dingwall from Birmingham University has been analysing the data from a geophysical assessment of the planned route of a new bridge between Qatar and Bahrain. The team has developed a sea bed classification based on these surveys. The sea bed sampling project is been used to ground truth the classification. As we hear from Eoghan the sampling uses a nifty bit of gear called a Van Veen Grab. Twenty six of the ninety three sampling sites have been done to date.
