Syria's Injured

Apr 03, 2013, 02:54 PM

As well as the more than 70,000 people estimated to have been killed in Syria’s civil war, hundreds of thousands more have been injured. Many are now disabled – their limbs torn off or their spines paralysed by rocket attacks or a sniper’s bullet. They’re now facing uncertain futures in countries where people with disabilities are often stigmatized and shunned by society – especially women. The BBC's World Affairs Correspondent, Caroline Hawley, has been to northern Jordan to meet some of the injured Syrians who are carried across the border every day for treatment: Broadcast on the Today Programme, BBC Radio 4, 3rd April 2013 Producer: Stuart Hughes, @stuartdhughes
