Media Talk podcast: More! magazine to close

Apr 26, 2013, 10:21 AM

More! magazine is to close after twenty-five years and a not-unhealthy circulation of over 90,000. John Plunkett is joined by former Heat editor Sam Delaney and Broadcast editor Lisa Campbell to discuss this and the other media stories of the week. As five big newspaper groups announce an alternative charter for press regulation, Lisa O'Carroll drops in to explain how it differs from the government's own proposal and why. BBC director general Lord Hall joins chairman Chris Patten at the DCMS select committee – but were they really on best behaviour? On Radio 4, David Attenborough is to launch a new early morning feature about birdsong – which gives John an excuse to showcase his love of twitching and Barnes Wetlands Centre. In TV, Nosheen Iqbal discusses the end of Broadchurch, the quiet return of 10 O'Clock Live and how Amazon is taking on Netflix with its own new commissions. Plus, we reveal which bus Chris Patten used to get in the morning and which bird makes the sound of a vomiting fairy. What did we miss? Please leave your thoughts on the week's media news below.
