Venice weekend: Back down with a bump - from check-in to seat 10E

I always used to relish air travel, and airports were just another part of the adventure. Aviation seems to have lost its sheen a bit in recent times however, with endless queues, departure lounge commercialisation, and ground service which can be apathetic at best. And so it was with the final leg of our journey home from Venice, with lengthy waiting times to drop our bags, having checked in online, and a distinct lack of information as we crowded aboard a bus at the gate.
