Scraponomics Episode 40: How Many Trees are Saved by Recycling One Ton of Paper?

Aug 14, 2014, 01:28 PM

Since the 1970s, there has been a loosely used figure that every net ton, or 2,000 lbs., of recycled paper saves approximately 17 trees from being cut down.

The statistic was provided by an organization called Conservatree. At the time, Conservatree was a paper distributor, but is now more of an activist / environmental consulting organization, and they have since updated their original 17 trees statement.
