Life as a Visual Storyteller—Episode 29—29th July, 2015: A Saudi Prince* Wants to Buy a Cartoon!

Jul 29, 2015, 08:38 PM

I'll keep this short.

Paul O'Mahony (@omaniblog) published this comment on the Audioboom platform in relation to yesterday's episode:

"How much to buy a cartoon from you? I'm acting on behalf of a great fan of you. My client lives in Saudi Arabia & is prepared keep your cartoons from public view until things in Saudi move on. My client is a collector who has been collecting Doomsbury for 4 years (I tell you this in confidence). One of my client's wives is obsessed with your cartoons & has a birthday coming soon. He wants to surprise her - and be discrete from his other favourites. So he insists on the utmost discretion."*

The first sentence stopped me in my tracks. The answer is, "I don't know." That's terrible. It's a fundamental of business that you can at least tell people how much your product or service costs.

So, thank you, Paul. Now I must go away and have a think about it.

  • There is no mention of the Saudi gentleman in question being a prince. I only imagine him so because it makes for a much better headline.
