It's Your Right: David on the Right to a Language

Nov 17, 2015, 09:49 AM

David, who is originally from Croatia, has moved to Ireland with his mother recently. While he thinks that Ireland is the perfect country for him (apart from the rain!), his native language Croatian remains a significant part of his life. He goes to Ballymakenny College in Drogheda and his favourite author is the science fiction writer, Greg Farshtey. David speaks Croatian at home with his mother everyday, and feels that it is important to do so, so that he doesn't forget it. He thinks that if somebody speaks it, or if it is written down, it will always be there for future generations.
