Random gunshots in Yei on New Year celebrations were heard amidst prior warning from the authorities.

Former Yei Mayor Santo Paul Lasuba earlier warned citizens and forces not to shoot guns on the festive season.

The random gunshots on Friday morning continued for about half an hour. Our Radio Easter journalist Alison Lemeri has more.

“Forces were seen tracking perpetrators, but it was unclear if they made any arrest”, our correspondent says.

The municipal authorities in its earlier warned that perpetrators would be punished or their guns confiscated. Reporting by Radio Easter, through CRN. #Yei #SouthSudan #RadioEaster
