Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission, JMEC has produced a one month timetable where formation of the government of national unity was fixed on January 22, says Faith-based group representative.

Bishop Enock Tombe told Radio Bakhita’s ‘wake-up Juba talk show’ on Wednesday that the parties agreed to submit the names of the ministers on Thursday.

“JMEC produced a one Month’s timetable. For the formation of the government of national unity, the date was put as 22nd of this month. So yesterday when we were meeting, we were assessing the progress towards it. And as I said tomorrow all the parties are submitting the names of their ministers and they agreed that they are ready with the names.” Bishop Tombe said.

“The issue now really is whether the government can be formed before even 22nd. So there are about seven days. So some people are saying do we need to wait even for that day? Let us just do it. So the deadline is going to be met yes, it can be even before that.”

He appeals to citizens to work with the government and the SPLM-IO in the implementation of the peace agreement.

The Bishop said Dr Riek Machar is still waiting for his 350 bodyguards and the representatives to arrive in the country before formation of the transitional government.

JMEC on Tuesday announced that parties to the peace agreement will reveal names of national ministers they nominated to form a cabinet for the government of national unity.
