(April 26, 2016)- Cape Coral Police Detectives have made an arrest in the James Marshall homicide investigation.

After a long and technically complex investigation, this afternoon, Detectives from the Cape Coral Police Department Investigative Services Bureau served a warrant on Matthew Christopher Marshall, who is currently incarcerated at the Lee County Jail, for Second Degree Murder, Abuse of a Human Body, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

“Our Detectives have worked tirelessly on this case, amassing as much evidence as possible in what is one of the most gruesome homicides Cape Coral has ever seen. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the men and women of the Cape Coral Police Department Investigative Services Bureau, Patrol Bureau, Marine Unit and Dive Team for their hard work and perseverance on this case. I would also like to thank the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and Dive Team for their assistance as well as the Sarasota K-9 Search & Rescue for all of their hard work. In addition, I would like to recognize the State Attorney’s Office for its ongoing partnership with us in preparing this case for successful prosecution. ARRESTED: Matthew Christopher Marshall, W/M, DOB: 10-11-1982, of 1787 Four Mile Cove Parkway, Cape Coral, FL. CHARGES: Second Degree Murder, Abuse of a Human Body, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
