In an effort to get Irish politicians to focus on the crisis in Syria with civilian casualties increasing at an alarming rate on a daily basis The Irish Syria Solidarity held a protest vigil outside Lenister House - Ireland's parliament on Thursday, April 28, 2016.

The aim was to try and engage as many politicians as possible in the hope they might speak out and condemn in particular the one million Syrians caught under Siege mainly by the Assad regime. A small number of public representatives did leave the chamber to meet members of the group. Esperanza's Anne Daly spoke with an number of the protesters who said they were appalled at the lack of public engagement especially by media and political representatives given the numbers of civilians, including children, being killed or wounded everyday in Syria.
