Should older drivers be able to carry on driving until they are of 75, without having to renew their licence?

The current mandatory renewal age is 70. Campaigners have hit out at the age limit, saying that older people are now healthier and living longer lives.

John Plowman, chairman of the Older Drivers Task Force, has said he will recommend that pensioners should be allowed to continue driving for 'as long as possible'. He warns that current restrictions mean many older drivers give up driving altogether, which can leave them feeling isolated, lonely and depressed.

What do you think? Is there such a thing as too old to drive? Aren't older drivers safer than many younger drivers on our roads?
