Should prison officers, who take a redundancy payoff, be allowed to re-apply for prison jobs?

Prison officers who take part in their equivalent of the Patten redundancy scheme could still apply to become custody officers under a new wave of recruitment. That means a prison officer could take a £100,000 pay-off and a £18,000 a year pension and STILL apply for the new jobs.
