Martin Sheen's new movie is Stella Days, the story of a priest in rural Ireland who opens a cinema and has to deal with the conflict which this results in. The film is inspired by Stella Days 1957-1967: The Life and Times of a Rural Irish Cinema is a book written by Michael Doorley. It is an evocative publication about growing up with the local 'Stella' cinema in Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary. It's setting, in the late 1950's during an economic depression mirrors our situation in Ireland today. It also reflects the key role of the arts during difficult times as the story centres around the building of a cinema in a small town community.
