Former Google executive Marissa Mayer has resigned after landing a job as President and CEO of web portal Yahoo. The 37-year-old was Google’s first female employee and a respected spokesperson for the Internet giant. Mayer helped create Google’s search engine and home page, and is often credited for the look and feel of Google products. She was also in charge of Google Maps and Google Earth. This is Yahoo’s third CEO in one year. Former Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson resigned after his academic credentials were questioned. Choosing Mayer for the leading role, signals that Yahoo is going to focus on user experience and product design. #WeeklyNews
