Listen: The Derry flute band who served at the Somme
The members of the Hamilton Flute Band joined up "to a man" when war broke out in 1914, and served as stretcher-bearers at the Somme. Two members of the band - Lance Corporal Joseph Scott, from Moore Street, and Rifleman George Mills, from Pine Street - were killed on the 1st of July.
