“Bah! Humbug!”

Enjoy a new abridged audiobook adaptation of Charles Dickens' most famous novella, A Christmas Carol.

Christmas Eve. As everyone prepares for the start of the festive holidays with joy and excitement, one man is ready to greet it with bitterness and scorn. A man with more cruelty, callousness and coldness in his heart than any other creature who walks the earth. His name? Ebenezer Scrooge.

But tonight, this lost, dark soul will receive a ghostly figure from beyond the grave, warning Ebenezer that his bitter nature must now face the true spirit of Christmas, or forever be damned...

A story of goodwill and humanity, this timeless tale returns to remind us of that much needed spirit of kindness and compassion, and that, even in our darkest days, we can all rediscover the light.

Read by Jenny Runacre, directed and produced by Jack Bowman.

NARRATOR: JENNY RUNACRE

RUNNING TIME: 2 hours 57 min

Minor abridgements have been made for timing purposes of this audiobook

Based on the true story of Countess Elizabeth Bathory, perhaps one of the most prolific mass murderers of all time. She was a woman who tortured and killed over 600 young women for their blood. Too noble to be executed, in 1610 the ‘Bloody Lady of Cachtice’ was bricked up in a set of rooms in her own castle in Slovakia. Why then should the young and beautiful Katya be at the castle door attracting the close attention of the gaoler and wanting a job looking after Countess? Is it revenge or some more ghostly visit from Bathory’s past? And if she should help her escape….

Listen through head phones and experience the ultra vivid world the 3D Audio recording technique creates inside your mind.

Starring: Josephine Arden, Mike Garnell, Fiz Marcus and Andrew Ward

This is an original 60-minute audio play (with songs), featuring professional actors, with cameos from presenters on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio Gloucestershire and Sky Arts 1, that deals with the illness M.E. as its focal point.

It is written by a sufferer and it specifically addresses what happens to relationships around an individual who is stricken by the illness and should educate those that don’t know much about this life-threatening condition.

For those that have experienced the illness Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (first or second hand), it’s a story you can empathise with. For those who haven’t, it’s a story you can sympathise with.

Actor/Director/Writer and M.E. sufferer, Barnaby Eaton-Jones said: “The script was first written in 1992, which makes this the 20th anniversary of that event. But, a lot has changed since then. It was often sad, very frustrating and constantly bewildering to read so much new research since the play was last performed and find that there isstill prejudice, wrong information and lack of knowledge out there in the general public. Hopefully, this play will play a small part in helping to redress the balance.”

Starring: Jilly Breeze, Barnaby Eaton-Jones, Dawn Stanley, Rob Leetham, Rowena Perkins

The real-life radio personalities and presenters featured were, in alphabetical order…

Richard Atkins, Claire Carter, Dominic Cotter, Rachel Darcy, Faye Hatcher, Steve Kitchen and Annie McKie

With grateful thanks to Nick Bull and BBC Radio Gloucestershire

Script and Songs (Music/Lyrics) by Barnaby Eaton-Jones, Sound, Production and Editing by Steve Bradbury

Mastered by David Pickering Pick at FFG,

The musical accompaniment was written and arranged by Paul Arthurs (Bass, Percussion, Additional Guitar), Steve Bradbury (Piano, Hammond Organ, Strings), With Barnaby Eaton-Jones (Guitar)

Artwork supplied by Carolyn Edwards and Helen Morris

Graphic Design by Scott Bishop at Jump Creative

‘Running To Stand Still’ was produced by Steve Bradbury and directed by Barnaby Eaton-Jones

It is 1791 and strange rumours of liberty and the equality of all men have begun to reach the ears of the slaves toiling on the land courtesy of the bloody revolution convulsing the colonial motherland of France. Is it possible that the principles of liberty, brotherhood and equality could apply to a nation of brutalised black slaves? The white masters think not, but one man, Toussaint L’Ouverture, an ex-slave himself, has other ideas. Trusted by all factions in the colony, whites, blacks, and the increasingly powerful mixed race “Mulattoes” Toussaint sets about exploiting the divisions between the Royalist planters and the Revolutionaries from France to create an opening out of which true equality for the slaves may come.

It has often been said that men do not make history but history makes men. What better example can there be than the story of Toussaint L’Ouverture an illiterate ex-slave , without training, who had no choice but to find greatness as a leader to rescue his people from a dark chapter of history? In this he is assisted by the fearless meddling Voudou Priestess, Mambo Cecile, and by a young faithful house slave, Marie, poised to undergo an extraordinary transformation from a timid servant to a woman who for the first time dares to dream of freedom and beyond…

With thanks to Kay Johnson, Alan Guy, Vivien Guy, Joe Marcell (Board of Thee Black Swan Theatre and Opera Company) and Lucia Hinton and Halo Jones of Art 19 Studios Produced by Thee Black Swan Theatre and Opera Company theeblackswan.co.uk

Hector Hugh Munro wrote under the pen name of Saki. He was born in 1870 in British Burma and brought up in Devonshire from the age of 2, by two maiden aunts. They apparently hated each other and would compete to be each more strict and fierce with the child than the other. This may account for some of the cruelty of some of his stories. In 1914 he enlisted as a private, he never really came to terms with authority, but nonetheless he was promoted to Sargent and was killed by a snipers bullet in 1916. His last words, recorded by a fellow solider, were; “put that bloody cigarette out” followed by the sound of a shot. His dark comic stories are his lasting legacy.

The Cask of Amontillado is Edgar Allan Poe’s short but enigmatic masterpiece. Set in an unnamed Italian City we hear the story of how Montresor lures Fortunato through the catacombs into the Montresor family vault and there chains him up and bricks him in for eternity. Why he does it we will never know, but he does so with a casual savagery that is truly chilling.

“Cask’ was recorded on location in ancient vaults. Every footstep and cough, every brick and every echo are captured and you will never forget hearing the final, faraway declamation: ‘In pace requiescat!’

This is a BINAURAL recording and must be listened to with headphones for the full effect. We suggest listening alone…. in the dark….!
