The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday issued a notification which allowed 10 intelligence and investigating agencies and the Delhi Police to intercept, monitor and decrypt "any information" generated, transmitted, received or stored in "any computer". The MHA notification says that the order was passed under Section 69 of the Information Technology act, 2000 and rule 4 of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Interception, Monitoring and Decryption of Information) Rules, 2009. The order soon snowballed into a massive controversy with privacy activists raising concern over the ambiguity of the notification, while the opposition too cornered the government calling it a violation of fundamental right to privacy of Indian citizens. Congress president Rahul Gandhi tweeted about it saying the Modi government wants to convert India into a police state. The ongoing winter session of parliament too felt the heat of the topic. According to the Chief Information Commission's audit more than one-third of government ministries and departments do not disclose basic information about their decision-making process, foreign visits of senior officials, minutes of departmental meetings, transfer policy etc.. All the 2,092 public authorities who are registered with CIC were approached between July and October 2018 with a pro forma, which they had to fill themselves. Overall, 838 of the 2,092 government ministries and departments responded and submitted to this audit. Where it shows about 35% of them have poorly scored on disclosure and only 19% have topped it.

Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra added that “it’s an issue to be decided by the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court”. The Supreme Court was hearing a public interest litigation challenging the validity of the Article 35A. Some call Article 35A ""discriminatory"" against J&K women, because it disqualifies them from their state subject rights if they married non-permanent residents. "On the massive controversy over a new Assam citizen's list that excludes 40 lakh people from the state, Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said that the draft released on Monday is not a final one yet. The list has the names of Assam people and their family who have been living in the state before 1972. Non- Assamese but Indian citizens living in the state have also been added to the list, provided they have proof. Like the identity proof or aadhar or any other ID proof. (rajnath byte) All genuine Indian citizens will be added to the list. And there will be no bias in preparing the list. said the Government. To counter that Ripon Bora a congress leader representing from Assam, said that many women's names have been dropped because as they couldn't produce linkage certificate. As there are many children in the list that were left out. Many children dont have birth certificate due to illiteracy, Bora claims. So it is clear that apart from failing to detect the illegal bangladeshi immigrats, administrative failure is also one of the vital issue why these 40 lakh citizens were excluded from the list. Rather than politicising such a sensitive issue, the opposition as well as the Government should take the responsibility of educating what NRC draft all about.

The Muzaffarpur shelter home case where more than 34 girls were allegedly sexually abused has recently come to light. The medical reports had earlier indicated that 29 out of 44 girls living at the shelter homes had been raped and molested for several weeks. Soon after the reports were out the case was handed over to the CBI. in the recent revelation, the state funded NGO, allegedly resulted in abortions and death of at least one girl. The CBI inquiry had further informed how these shelter homes were able to function for so long with no accountability, either in their finances or the welfare of the inmates. These girls in this destitute home used to cut themselves i order to avoid sexual abused.The most worrying part is that the state has a child welfare committee of which the chairperson is now among the accused. Shelter homes are meant to provide safe security for children and women who have been abandoned or have no family support. But when those who are entrusted with the protection turn into predator, its high time the state should seriously take a strict action to ensure that this does not happen again.

Assam NRC: No country for 40 lakh people

However, It is ridiculous to make a decision without examining what the students themselves think about it. In the introduction of our Constitution, it is declared that India is a secular country. And there is no official religion, And if any ideology is followed by the government, they can not force the citizen to follow what they believe. The Government of India has some responsibilities. Even though the BJP led ruling government, is working with the right wing ideology, however the government should work according to the principle of the Constitution. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने विशेष सीबीआई जज बीएच लो‍या की मौत की स्वतंत्र जांच कराने से मना कर दिया है। मुख्य न्यायाधीश दीपक मिश्रा, एएम खानविलकर और डिवाइ चंद्रछुड़ की तीन जजों की पीठ ने यह फैसला आज (गुरुवार) को दिया है। पीठ ने कहा कि गेस्ट हाउस में लो‍या के साथ ठहरे चार अन्य जजों के बयान पर शक करना उचित नहीं है। ये सब जज अपने एक साथी की बेटी के विवाह में शामिल होने नागपुर गए थे। पीठ ने कहा इस मामले में पीआईएल याचिका के क्षेत्राधिकार का दुरुपयोग किया है।

उत्तर प्रदेश की दो सबसे वीआईपी लोकसभा सीटों गोरखपुर और फूलपुर में समाजवादी पार्टी ने जीत दर्ज कर ली है। सीएम योगी आदित्यनाथ के क्षेत्र गोरखपुर से जहां एसपी प्रत्याशी प्रवीन निषाद ने बीजेपी के उपेन्द्र शुक्ल को 21 हजार 881 वोटों से हरा दिया। वहीं फूलपुर में समाजवादी पार्टी प्रत्याशी नागेंद्र पटेल ने 59 हजार से भी अधिक वोटों से जीत हासिल की। सीएम योगी आदित्यनाथ के इस्तीफे के बाद खाली हुई गोरखपुर सीट और डेप्युटी सीएम केशव प्रसाद मौर्य की फूलपुर सीट पर शुरुआती दौर में कांटे की टक्कर देखने को मिली। लेकिन बाद में समाजवादी पार्टी के प्रत्याशियों ने भारी उलटफेर कर दिया और बीजेपी का कमल मुरझा गया।

महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फड़नवीस ने पुणे जिले में इस वर्ष एक जनवरी को हुई भीमा कोरेगांव हिंसा से संबंधित मामले वापस लेने की घोषणा की है। लेकिन गंभीर मामले वापस नहीं लिए जाएंगे। विधान परिषद में मंगलवार को मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि हिंसा के दौरान 13 करोड़ रुपये की संपत्ति को नुकसान पहुंचा था। इस नुकसान की भरपाई राज्य सरकार करेगी। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि जिन लोगों पर गंभीर और राजनीतिक अपराध दर्ज हैं उनके खिलाफ एडीजी स्तर की एक समिति जांच करेगी।

लंदन स्तिथ वार्ताकार जसदेव सिंह राय (सिखमानवधिकार फोरम के निदेशक) और लगभग 30 अन्य सिख नेताओं ने साल 2015 में प्रधानमत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी के लंदन दौरे के दौरान मुलाकात की जिसके बाद कई मोदी सरकार और राय के बिच इन मसलों को लेकर कई प्रस्तावों पे बात हुयी. इस बिच अलग अलग देशों के कट्टरपंथी सिख संगठनों ने सरकार के सामने तिन शर्ते राखी है. पहली शर्त 1984 के हमले के लिए सरकार से माफ़ी की मांग की है. दूसरा वैटिकन सिटी के तर्ज पर स्वर्ण मंदिर को खास दर्जा दिया जाए. तीसरा सरकार सभी उचित वार्तालाब के लिए तैयार रहे.

प्रसार भर्ती ने सख्ती दिखाते हुए सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्रालय द्वारा दीए गए दिशानिर्देशों को मानने से मना कर दिया है. प्रसार भारती ने 'प्रसार भारती अधिनियम 1990' की अवमानना बताते हुए मंत्रालय की ओर से दो पत्रकारों के नियुक्ति के निर्देश को ख़ारिज कर दिया है. खबरों के अनुसार सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्रालय ने प्रसार भारती को भेजे प्रस्ताव में पत्रकारिता से जुड़े दो नामों को नौकरी पर रखने की बात कही थी. इस प्रस्ताव को प्रसार भारती बोर्ड ने ख़ारिज कर दिया है. बोर्ड की तरफ से कहा गया कि मंत्रालय दो पत्रकारों को नौकरी पर रखने के लिए दबाव बना रहा है साथ ही उन पत्रकारों को 75 लाख रुपये से 1 करोड़ रुपये के बीच वेतन देने की बात भी कह रहा है. साथ ही यह भी कहा कि,ऐसा प्रतीक होता है मानो इस बात को भुला दिया गया हो कि प्रसार भारती स्वायत्त निगम है.

रविवार की सुबह टाटा मुंबई अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मैराथन का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें देश-विदेश के नामी धावकों ने हिस्सा लिया. इस मैराथन में छह तरह की प्रतियोगिता सम्मिलित थी. अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मैराथन का आयोजन रविवार को मुंबई छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज टर्मिनस के समीप से सुबह 5 बजकर 40 मिनट पर किया गया, वहीं पर अर्ध मैराथन की शुरुआत वरली के सीफेस के समीप सिथत वरली डेयरी के सामने से शुरू हुई. टाटा मुंबई मैराथन एशिया का सबसे बड़ा मैराथन है, जिसमें 44,407 धावकों ने भाग लिया.

इस मैराथन में अमेच्योर फुल मैराथन और एलिट मैराथन नामक दो प्रतियोगिताएं महत्वपूर्ण थीं. इन्हीं दोनों को जोड़कर अर्ध मैराथन, दस किलोमीटर की दौड़, वरिष्ठ सिटीजन्स दौड़, व्हीलचेयर रन और ड्रीम रन का समावेश मैराथन प्रतियोगिता में शामिल थी.

मैराथन को सफल बनाने में 15000 कॉन्ट्रैक्ट वर्कर्स, 9000 पुलिस कर्मचारी, 150 डॉक्टर्स की टीम का योगदान रहा.

इथियोपिया के सोलोमन डेक्सिसा ने मुंबई मैराथन जीत लिया है, उन्होंने रविवार यानी 21 जनवरी को हुए इस मैराथन में 2 घंटे, 9 मिनट और 33 सेकंड्स में अपनी दौड़ पूरी की

भारत की तरफ से सबसे कम समय में रेस को गोपी टी ने खत्म किया. वहीं नितेंद्र सिंह रावत दुसरे पायदान पर रहे.

महिला वर्ग में युथोपिया की अमेना गोबेना विनर रहीं वहीं भारत की तरफ से फुल मैराथन में सुधा सिंह विनर रहीं.
