BBC Radio York - York Councillor says "sorry" for foodbank remarks

Last week #York #Conservative Councillor Chris Steward caused a storm of protest when he claimed that #foodbanks are not necessary in this country because the benefits system means that nobody starves. He questioned whether true poverty exists in Britain. The York #Tory has now told #BBC Radio York that his comments were "clumsy & inappropriate". He also revealed that he has had emails from people suggesting ways in which he should meet his death....
