Kashmir conflict - who and why?

More than 100,000 people have died in decades of conflict in the disputed territory of #Kashmir. The Himalayan region is officially part of #India but #Pakistan lays claim to it and the two countries have twice gone to war over Kashmir. Insurgents who want independence from both sides have also contributed to the violence. But more recently, the situation there has been relatively peaceful as India and Pakistan have moved to cool tensions...But that changed last week. Five Indian police officers were killed, allegedly by militant separatists - and locals say innocent civilians have been killed by Indian security forces, perhaps as an act of revenge. In the second of his two reports from the Kashmiri capital, #Srinagar, The World Tonight's Paul Moss has been exploring why this conflict continues to fester.
