The decision followed a review by NHS medical director Professor Sir Bruce Keogh of the 14 trusts with the highest mortality rates.
Several newspapers said he'd claim 13,000 patients had died unnecessarily at the hospitals since 2005.
Sir Bruce was asked by BBC Radio 4's PM programme about his findings, and also what he made of the figures mentioned in the press, which didn't actually feature in his report.
