As #Azerbaijan prepares for presidential elections in October, the political situation there is growing increasingly tense. This year, the former Soviet Republic has seen an unusually high number of anti-government protests. Last month, the largest ever alliance of opposition parties was formed, with the aim of ousting President Ilham Aliyev from power. His critics accuse Mr Aliyev of heading an authoritarian regime, his family having dominated the country for the past forty years.
