Twitter "needs to act" on trolls, police say

Twitter must do more to ensure abusive messages are dealt with quickly, a senior British police officer has said:

Caroline Criado-Perez was deluged with threats of violence after lobbying for more women to appear on UK banknotes, while MP Stella Creasy - who spoke out in the campaigner's defence - was also warned she would be raped.

Andy Trotter from the Association of Chief Police Officers told BBC Radio 4's The World At One that criminal investigations would also be launched to target those behind such "blood-curdling" messages.
