Atlas of County Donegal

Sep 03, 2013, 07:15 PM

Ireland's most beautiful county, Donegal has both a vast landscape and a fascinating past. Surprisingly for an area so rich in heritage and culture, there has been no one major work bringing together the great diversity of material written about the county’s history, landscapes and people. Until now that is. This magnificent 600 page book seeks to put Donegal on the map of contemporary Ireland. Contributors are drawn from a wide range of academic disciplines and interest as co-editor Sean Beattie tells us in the audio piece.

Beautifully illustrated with full colour photographs, paintings, charts and other informative illustrations, this would make an ideal present for the Donegal enthusiast be they in Dunedin or Dunkineely.

The launch took place at 6.30pm on the 7th of September in LYIT with Martin McGuinness MLA doing the honours to a capacity crowd. Sean tells us that all interested parties are welcome, but if you cannot make it, you can order the book from here: - http://www.irishbooksdirect.ie/irish-history-regional-history/irish-history-regional-history/atlas-of-county-donegal
