Sympathy short for Germany's southern neighbours

Who'll run #Germany? It's a question German voters will decide in elections later this month. But the outcome is of interest to everyone in the #Eurozone. #Europe's wealthiest nation is playing a major part in deciding how the EU deals with its debt problems. Polls show Angela #Merkel is a popular Chancellor, and that's at least in part to her leadership during the Eurozone crisis. The majority of Germans don't want to see more of their money spent on supporting their debt-laden European neighbours. And let's not forget they have been here before; when East and West Germany reunited, the West spent an estimated trillion pounds on their new citizens from the East.
