What it means to be ethical - Ideas Lab Podcast
We all want to make choices in life that are fair to others, but it’s not easy. Dr Yan Wong hosts a panel of experts in a thought-provoking discussion about what it means to be ethical. Can companies really act ethically if they are entirely profit driven? What role does the law play? And with the health service right at the coalface of ethics, how much should medical professionals be trusted to use their own judgement when patients live or die as a result of their decisions?
On the panel is Marcus Belben, campaigner for fair and ethical trade, and from the University of Birmingham Dr June Jones, a bioethicist from the School of Health and Population Sciences, Dr Jonathan Shapiro, a health services researcher, and Dr Sheelagh McGuinness from Birmingham Law School.
