Can the French economy ever change? Over the next two weeks, The World Tonight will be looking at the financial state of countries around Europe, in the run up to this months EU summit. But it's with France that we begin - the country may not be in quite the critical state of Greece, or even Italy or Portugal. But the size of the French economy makes its fate far more important. The European Commission and the IMF continue to tell France it must reform, and deregulate but there's little sign of that. Indeed, one current row in France, has left observers convinced that in terms of business practice, the country is going backwards.
