Is the ICC Case against President Kenyatta personal?

Over the weekend the the African Union has unanimously agreed a resolution stating no sitting African head of state should appear before an international court. It also requested a deferral of cases against Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, due to start in November. Some have argued that the president together with his deputy are politicising the case and yet they are being tried as individuals. So is the case personal or not?
