The president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has suspended the governor of the country's Central Bank, Lamido Sanusi - who has accused the state oil corporation of failing to deposit billions of dollars of revenues in the bank. A statement from the Nigerian government said Mr Sanusi had been suspended because of what it called "various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct". Mr Sanusi was instrumental in cleaning up fraud in Nigeria's banking sector and had been due to step down in June.
