Top policeman worries media coverage of sex abuse trials 'might stop alleged victims coming forward'

One of Britain's top police officers says he fears media coverage, following the acquittals of Bill Roach and Dave Lee Travis, could put alleged victims of historic sexual abuse off from coming forward. Martin Hewitt, who's Deputy Assistant Commissioner at the Metropolitan police, also denies that because of the failure to prosecute Jimmy Savile when he was alive, things have swung the other way.
