Interview with Abbas Mohammed, Kenyan MP for Wajir East

Up to three thousand men, women and children have been detained since Friday in a major swoop in Kenya. According to the police spokesman, Masoud Mwinyi , four hundred and forty seven people are holed up in the Kasarani stadium. He also reiterated that it is not just members of the Somali community who have been detained. The Kenyan government says it is screening these detainees to find out their immigration status. But the authorities have made no secret of their belief that some of the terror attacks launched in Kenya by the Islamist group Al Shabab may have been supported by Somalis in Kenya.
