EDITORIAL: There is a lot of unemployment in Spain, a large underground economy, and a never-ending list of complex fraud cases; all three problems are more serious in the south of the country.

The list of corruption cases in Spain grows longer and it is difficult to keep up with how many there are, never mind all the regular updates to each case about who stole exactly how much in what manner.

The Bárcenas and Gürtel scandals, political weights hanging around the governing Popular Party’s neck, involve slush funds and envelopes of cash that total just €49 million and €120 million respectively.
