Leading political figures in #Kosovo are to face charges for crimes against humanity for their part in the conflict at the end of the 1990s which left up to ten thousand people dead. War crimes committed by both #Serbia forces and the Kosovo Liberation Army have already been brought to the International Criminal Court for the former Yugoslavia - the #ICTY. Abuses since 1999 were examined by the Council of Europe Rapporteur Dick Marty who in 2011 alleged that Kosovo's current political leadership including PM Hashim Thaci had been involved in war crimes, organised crime & the trafficking of human organs while heading the KLA. Those allegations have now been subjected to a full-scale criminal investigation carried out by the #EU Special Investigative Task Force, led by its Chief Prosecutor, Clint Williamson. He told us they'd uncovered compelling evidence that a campaign of persecution had been directed at the ethnic Serb, Roma and other minority populations of Kosovo
