Interview with Somali writer Diriye Osman

Somali writer Diriye Osman has become the first African to win The Polari First Book Prize for his collection of short stories entitled Fairy Tales for lost children. The Polari prize is for a first book which explores the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender or LGBT experience. The Chair of judges Paul Burston said that writing as a black gay African man from a Muslim background, Osman dazzled us with the wide range of literary voices in this stunning short story collection. Jenny Horrocks asked him first to read from the opening of his book.. the first story is called "Watering the Imagination".
