Why are Yazidis fleeing to Georgia?

In August, #IslamicState fighters encircled areas in northern #Iraq populated by the #Yazidi minority. Then, at least 500 Yazidis including dozens of children were killed. Tens of thousands fled into the mountains, where young and old had to encounter days without food or water. Hundreds of women were kidnapped and some have been sold as concubines or sex slaves. But a small group of Yazidis that witnessed the horror of IS persecution found their way out of Iraq and arrived in the republic of #Georgia - home to a sizable local community of #Kurdish Yazidis.
