POPS MOHAMED a South African treasure in the music industry !

Pops Mohamed one of South Africa’s 21 Icons, is a highly respected South African multi-instrumentalist, jazz musician and producer, whose sheer love of sound is evident from the variety of instruments he plays, including the African mouth bow, bird whistle, berimbau, didgeridoo, guitar, keyboard, kora, and the thumb piano.

Pops is a multi-award winning legendary genius kind of guy. He's made 37 albums to date, toured with Andreas Vollenweider and Baaba Maal, recorded and made movies with the San (Bushmen of the Kalahari), co-created the TV show Southern Rhythms which explored the relationship between music and spirituality in SA.

His career, spanning around 40 years, was the logical outcome of an early exposure to the likes of Abdullah Ibrahim and Kippie Moeketsi. He started his first band The Valiants, at age 14. Pops is also known for his wide range of musical styles which include kwela, pop, and soul. His music takes you into another dimension - Yes !
