A former Essex lorry driver has told BBC Essex there is a gadget on the market which would prevent the vast majority of illegal immigrants being able to get into lorries coming to the UK. Sixty eight suspected illegal immigrants were discovered in four lorries of washing machines when they arrived aboard a ferry from the Netherlands on Thursday. The vehicles' Polish lorry drivers are being questioned by police. Darren Connors from Cold Norton near Maldon says the haulage industry is aware of a lock that can be used on vehicles. He told BBC Essex Saturday Breakfast's Peter Holmes that when he was lorry driving, only rarely was his lorry checked for illegal immigrants
