The Village Départ
Kilometre 0 is the official start, after the départ fictif, for each day’s stage of the Tour de France. It is also a new show from The Cycling Podcast, taking listeners behind the scenes at the Tour and along for the ride on the world’s biggest bike race. KM0 will be released every weekday morning for the three weeks of the Tour. The second episode joins Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe as they tour the Village Départ. Setting up every morning in the start town, it’s a place to gather, eat local food and meet people. As they stroll through the Village, the KM0 team bump into Belgium’s last Tour winner, Lucien Van Impe, Markus Nerz of the Bora team, their old friend Ciro Scognamiglio of Gazzetta dello Sport, and Philippe Sudres, who tells us about the origins of the Village Départ.
