People Rally in Dublin to Reject Pegida - German Anti-Islamic Group Trying to Set-Up in Ireland

Feb 07, 2016, 06:30 PM

People took to the streets of Dublin (Sat. 6 Feb., 2016) to reject Pegida, the German anti-Islamic group trying to establish a base in Ireland. Pegida - "Patriotic Europeans against the Islamisation of the West" - first emerged in Dresden two years ago to campaign against the "Islamisation of Europe". However, so far attempts to establish an Irish branch seems to have galvanised many to come out and show solidarity for communities likely to be targeted and demonised by their openly racist campaigning especially the Muslim community.

Anne Daly, Esperanza co-founder was in the city centre to talk to those standing up against Pegida's attempt to foster hatred and racial tension in Ireland.

Esperanza Productions was co-founded by award winning documentary filmmakers Ronan Tynan and Anne Daly.
