Just War or Just Peace?

At the recent Vatican Conference called “Nonviolence and Just Peace: Contributing to the Catholic Understanding of and Commitment to Nonviolence”, the group Pax Christi International challenged the Just War Doctrine within the Catholic Church. In this episode of Peace Paradigm Radio, Michael and Stephanie discuss Just War Theory and History, examining the idea that sometimes war and violence in necessary to ensure the greater good and save lives. They also discuss Pax Christi’s and other activists’ proposed changes to the language and policies of just war to better reflect the church’s commitment to Nonviolence.
