Latin Grammy Award-winning musician Alex Cuba and his father, Valentin Puentes, played an impromptu tune for The Interior News in Smithers recently. Cuba and Puentes, who is an acclaimed music teacher in his hometown of Artemisa, are joined by Smithers Secondary School (SSS) music director Michael Doogan-Smith. The trio have formed a unique connection that has seen more than 150 SSS music students travel from Smithers to Artemisa.
